*clears throat* testing one, two...

my voice has totally failed me. make that, my body has totally failed me. i woke up this morning to blurry vision, a nose that's running away so hard i think it wants to move out, above mentioned voiceless ness, and big fat purple bruises all over, to match the one on my bum collected from falling off my bed.

doctor's assesment? overwork.

buuuut... how the hell can i be overworked, when school's barely started? *whimper* maybe i'm just not cut out. i'm exhausted! but i love my studies, i love uni (it's not brainwashing, it's true) and i love being busy. i never had this when i was running around like a blue-arse fly during jc, or even in the years after that. and why the hell would over-work cause me to be decorated in my favourite colour (abstractly pretty, yes, but not when you ask the implications), or let alone anything else.

good little student that i am, i swallowed the pills, got stuck-ed by his needle, did the eyedrops and hauled my sorry ass to school. i can't skip the 7 hours of lectures i have today, i would just die catching up. mmm... plus i did the good chinese girl thing and made a vat of soup (indian-inspired get-well-soup i must add, fulla onion, tomatoe, mustard seeds and chillies. maybe i can burn those germs away) but... i thought i'd take a coupla minutes to whine to my audience.

oh well... on to cheerier things:

thank you (yes i'm back at the yous game) for last night. sorry to run out on you, it was not you, it was me (don't you just love that line?) take you for the fun and the dancing, and yes we will chalk soon! and thank you for the pweety flowers! thanks for sending me home in one piece! (a sniffling sneezing sorry-for-myself piece, but who counts? *grin*)

and, thank you for what you are to me. you've stood by me thru the hellish (like this past month) and altho everbusy, you always tried to be there for me, while me greedy me, i always want more. love and acceptance i find in you, as well as many other beautiful things i cannot name. you're always there, to drag my kicking, screaming butt that inch further when i think i cannot move anymore. that's friendship.

at the end of the road
of my perception
stands someone
too weak to stand

yet as i walk to you
with my arms to catch you
it is my feet that trip
and me that falls

and it is you who catch me
who right me up
dust me off and
send me on my way

at the end of my road
within my perception
you will always be there
my friend

annnnd i couldn't resist putting this one up in full honour, since rence's most excellent moon horoscope book say i'm gemini-capricorn, and i got this!

***Your True Love Is a Capricorn***

Why you'll love a Capricorn:
Hard working and driven, a Capricorn will work overtime to win your heart.
Be prepared to get wined and dined, even once you're convince that your Capricorn is the one!

Why a Capricorn will love you:
You don't rush things. You know it will take a while for a Capricorn to trust you, and you can wait.
Social and outgoing, you can introduce normally shy Capricorn to a great circle of friends.

'How will you be defined in the dictionary?' at QuizGalaxy.com

omg can i say roflmao?

*shvr*

tis tres cold in brissie at the moment. strolling for coffee with dunks last night amidst the blugger madness... i had my jumper on and still felt icy. or it could be the 2 nightly hours of sleep getting to me. or both. no matter, chai latte at 11 is a good buffer to extended discussions of ego, superego and id.

in unrelated topics of mugg, d'you know that girls actually have a more efficient way of reading maps then guys? Guys, altho they insist that in reading maps facing north, actually have a higher probability of giving misdirections and getting lost, hence earning the reputation for not wanting to ask directions.. Girls, in turning the map to reflect the direction of movement, altho are more flustered due to the complexities of refolding-the-map-when-done, are less likely to get lost, assuming that her male-driver-counterpart actually lets her finish giving directions. this, according to the president of the australian cartographers association.

waiting for my damn exam to start, i realised that the bouncy quotient in my blog decreases in direct proportion to the amount of dance i attend. (mugger interruption : the correlation between dance class attendance and mood is -1, however, this does not prove causality, only giving an indication of relationship. end of mugger interruption) i've had a hectic week, but it was only after disallowing myself dance classes that i've become increasingly insane and morose. oh well. dance on sunday night at chalk! *starts practising shines, then yawns* at least i can sleep for the rest of the day, today. *mumbles sleepily to herself* mmmm... i love my bed.

have i told you about my bed? i'll post a picture of it when i go home. it's a gorgeous 4-post lovely that is big (read queen, not double) and warm (fluffy pillows and snuggly quilt) and oh-so-comfy. mmmm... i'm in love with my bed. have i mentioned that it's got hearts done into the wrought iron? oh and that it cost me only ADU$160, with delivery and assembly and 15yr guarenteed , hotel quality matteress? mmm... i love my bed. *nods*

exam starts in t-minus 25 mins and counting.... gawd, i hate waiting. esp waiting to go home and sleep. i wanna go climb trees, or jump in the lake.

*pink and purple elephants fly around*

nooooo i'm not drunk, altho i wish i am (or is that was. do i conjugate the verb, or.... waaait, you don't.. .er... nvm). i just had happy pills. very very happy pills. little white pills that make one very very awake (aka, caffeine pills la, i'm a good little singaporean girl) which means....

i should have the brain power to study! but i don't. siiigh.

edit: and we turn 100th post today, yay!

mmmm...

mircowave maggie can taste good. mmmm.... esp with mircowaved spinach... mmm...

it's finally happened! the australian chapter of SNU has been incepted =) wahahah... mmm... informal salsa gatherings that are not grope fests, and friends with cars... life doesn't get much better then this. which is why i'm blogging, happily procrastinating. i'll find a way tho... sondha always finds a way. buuuut... i've found salsa, and in intermediate level latin dance deprived brisbane (relative to sondha's other living habitats anyways, brissies please don't hit me =)) that's always a good thing. *hops skips jumps squeals claps paws with glee* (no i'm not a performing animal *grin*)

hmm... on a more serious note (don't you love reading a gemini's blog, these consistant conversation topics... hehe) i loved clinic. i love what i'm doing, i love where i'm headed to, and my life is full, sweet and happy. yeah, it's a slog, but i now can keep my eye on the goal ahead of me, i know what i'm working towards. i've never wanted anything so bad, never wanted to succeed so strongly as now. this year is the year i overhaul, and so far, i like what i see. *blinks* i hope to be worthy of my profession, and to never, ever stop serving these children. other desires in life come and go (like xiaolongbaos *grin*) but only through this want, can i help with a need.

oh well *tooodles off to study* the constant blugger (blogger + mugger) has striked again! (yes all you english/linguistics students, it's struck, i know, but my poetic license says striked, so there)

Monday, March 20, 2006
you fall asleep in the back of someone's car, and you're so sound asleep that he decides to send everyone else back, and then turn around and try again to wake you up. and walk you to the door.

and did i mention this was at 3pm in the arvo? lolx.

but life is cushy good otherwise. =) i gotta dance with seriously, some of the hottest dancers i have seen! wahahha *gloats* my friend from school sprained her leg, so altho i'm definately not the best qualified dancer, i fit her costume *cheers to losing weight* and i've practised the shines with her, so i gotta perform! one step closer to my dream, man. one girl on stage with 6 hot guys? i feel the love =) *cheeky grin* could've danced better i guess, but at least i didn't embarass myself or something.

oh and i'm going to sydney!!!! for the weekend, next weekend. =) thanks chris, for letting me crash at your house, and for fixing your work schedules so you can bring me out. and you *will* dance with me *does hypnosis thing* eventually. =) you are gonna be in qland for my 21st y'know. =) and you know you cannot say no =)

mmm... 2 months, 2 weeks and 2 days till my birthday *becomes introspective* all i want for my birthday is... peace. other then that, i've got all that i want in life, right here right now. i have the love of people who are important to me, even tho they're far away. i have friends that will be there for me, and i have peace and contentment in my career choice and studies. i have a gorgeous bed, and nice place to stay. i have dance, and the passion and fire that comes with it. i have fast internet, and a phone that handles abuse well. and honestly, that's all anyone needs. a person to tease (right rency boy?) a person to confide in (i have many sisters, all of them dear to me. i love you girls so much, i can't wait to come home for ice cream and sisterhood) an all consuming passion (dance) and a fulfilling career choice (speech pathology). through dance i've met the nicest people, and in life, i have been blessed. medically, physically, spiritually, in all things. i love life!

hmmm... it's my second tired, but sleepless night. it's like some incubus doesn't want me to fall asleep or something. which is strange, cuz the little that i sleep, has the sweetest dream, and i wish and wish that i won't wake up, but i always do. sigh.

well, the moves we learn in salsa are pretty nifty. susie x! the shines are... unique to say the least. i wish i could say the same about my liguistics *bashes head against wall* at least i'm not struggling with... err.. maths? *thinks sympathetically about shervonne* you'll be able to give it up soon k? just jia you for the next 8 months! (i was gonna say it's like having a baby, but neeevermiiind. lolx) and since i've been nicking lifts home from people (all excep the night i forgot my housekey) i've been home early. and studying, or attempting to... lolx...

*yawns* i'm just sooo tired. like super de duper tired. i cooked a nice brekkie for everyone in the house, but was too tired to eat it (good thing that my hungry housemates like aromatic wakeup calls *grin* wouldn't you want one too?) but yeah. i've got stuff to do this weekend, which is better then last, in fact i have decided which places i wanna go, but.... i'm still tired. and i can't dance if i'm tired. *grumps around*

mmmmm... this is for my curvy shervy =) hehe... may all our problems go away! *ganbatte* my mugging sister! i'll see you soon!

Aslyn - Be the Girl
You look at me
Curious what I'm made of
Sugar or steam
And what kind of man I love
What I believe
What I know and what I crave
All my pet peeves
Where I've shed and when I stain

Do you know
Cause I'm not here to be around
And be that girl that you forget about
Cause all I want is just to be a song
That you can feel longer than just right now
So come on baby let me be the girl
That you can count on to rock your world
And then you'll see there's so much than curves
And then you'll see that you and me belong

Do you know my vice
And how to get under my skin
Just what I like
And where I want you to begin
Do you know my middle name
And where I'm sensitive the most
That each night I pray
And do you think I fit that mold

Do you know
Cause I'm not here to be around
And be that girl that you forget about
Cause all I want is just to be a song
That you can feel longer than just right now
So come on baby let me be the girl
That you can count on to rock your world
And then you'll see there's so much than curves
And then you'll see that you and me belong

You and me belong
You and me belong

Cause I'm not here to be around
And be that girl that you forget about
Cause all I want is just to be a song
That you can feel longer than just right now
So come on baby, let me be the girl
That you can count on to rock your world
And then you'll see there's so much than curves
And then you'll see that you and me belong

You and me belong
You and me belong

well, i'm not gonna bitch about it, just... please my darling blog, work for me!

*shivers* i hate being sick

my achey breaky.... head.

maybe i've been having too much fun ( idon't think sooo.. but more on that subject another time)

i'm writing like a drunk cuz my head feels like it's gonna explode. it started half way through jive (which was fun, especially for the dips that we learnt. omg, the dips! can someone please learn jive dips to do for salsa? *grin* i'm a demanding partner.) but by the end of the lesson, i had a a throbbing head that just wouldn't quit. and i forever mbarassed myself futher, by being noisily sick in the bathroom. my head huuuuurts. someone come and cosset me?

then why am i online? cuz i have to print my lecture notes, in prep for my double double period lectures that start at 8 tomorrow. and i'm a whiner. and my meds aren't kicking in (*you* try to sleep with a million elephants dancing merengue in your head!) mmmmm.... i wanna dance tomorrow night, but i dunno if i can even lift my head off the pillow ( i'm writing this dangling off my bed, with my lapptop on the floor, and my head on the mattress, with the rest of my body)

but i had a great talk with rex today. our regular wednesday night chat, tonight was at the great court, with the best ice chocolate in brissie ( most people jsut put chocolate syrup with milk and get you to do the rest. merlo's at school blends the damn thing with delicious other things, so it's a frothy, creamy, sinful glass of yummiliciousness. mmmm... ice chocolate will never be the same... ) *contented* i love my school. big sandstone buildings, gorgeous trees, a fantastic library, wednesday markets... and the best damn pizza in town *drools* most uni students are loyal to their uni, and think it's the best. i know my uni is the best =) lolx. we really are.

okay, i'm going to bed, before i puke my guts out (it's the miserable, pukey kinda migraine, where you just wish your brain would ooze out of your ears instead of causing you misery) i hope tomorrow's salsa will be good *swoons* i'm in love with nightly classes.

Tuesday, March 14, 2006
oooooh my gawd.

despite sounding like a demented schoolgirl, which i am, i shall gush (no pun intenended)

i danced goood salsa today! *whoops in delight*

the performance team thing was a disappointment, so i moseyed myself along to the school that i've been dying to try out, but just haven't had a chance yet.

mmmmmm... they're having an event on saturday (i'll be there) and they are looking for people for next year's sydney congress (but i'll need to stay in aust for the christmas break, so no. i *heart* my sg loves to much) but ooooh yeaaah. the salsa was good stuff. i didn't get groped, and the guys only stared minimally... and i got to dance for 20mins on the floor, with a damn good lead (why only 20 mins? cuz he did something weird with his hand on a double spin, and hit his face and had a nose bleed. i kid you not. or maybe, i caused the nose bleed *raises an eyebrow* lolx)

and girls, get this. i was the *only* girl in inte-advan. can you beeeelieve that? *shakes head in wonder* i got to rotate with 4 guys, all to myself! the school swapped for a female instructer, but she needs to do most of the moves to show the guys anyways? so yeah! i dominated! *sings happy song* tell me where you can find another girl in my position? we'll go and sit in a corner and gloat. wahahhaha.

aaaaand it's 135 dollars per 2 months, for salsa every night of the week. and hiphop shines (i've never seen shines like these before, i'll prolly get a few stares when i come home to dance in singapore, but whoooo caaares. ) lolx.

and peter deserves special mention in my blog, cuz altho no brissites read my blog ( i think ) peter drove 20 mins out of his way, just to send me home, even tho he had to get to the offfice *thinks grateful thoughts* image of sondha toting huuuuge file and bag not fun. thanks peter!

poll: should i get another potentially painful pair of sparklies to dance in? or a pair of dance sneakers? hmmm.... my bloch's are still going strong, but i think they're slippery from overuse. mmmmm the most improtant questions in life. oh and sg guys, if you need dance shoes? give me your size and i'll help you buy. guys dance shoes (sneakers and jazz) are only..... 25 bucks right now! w000t... come to think of it, i may buy me a guy's pair.

mmm... i'm going to some unknown place tomorrow for more dance. some school hall thing *shrugs* my fellow speechie is going, so... yeah. ugh, with speechie shirt, and school books, and plane tickets, and salsa lessons, and shoes, sondha is officially poor. but content.

surrounded by the good things in life.... ahhh.... i haven't felt this content in ages =)

Monday, March 13, 2006
hmmmm

school is my new wonder drug. i *heart* school! [gets pissed cuz blogger just chopped off two paragraphs that sondha cannot remember] oh well... errm... yong's baby girl and wife are finally here! *hops skips jumps* i finally get to kidnap the cutest baby on earth! well... only when yong and his wife are... well... otherwisely occupied =) lolx. i wonder what the guys on campus would think if i walk about carrying her(sana). lolx, do i look like a mom to you? no, wait, don't answer that question....

hmmm the party was okaaaay. there is a serious lack of males who can dance. mmm, but i did discover alot of my pet peeves about dancing in brissie. brissie lacks guys who do not do this:

  • do bachata with their face in my chest
  • do bachata with vigrious grinding in the wrong places
  • like to grope the girls while breathing alcoholic fumes into their ear
  • .... and my favourite!

  • don't think that you'll go home just cuz they've done all the above.
    1. i mean, seriously guys? just cuz i will dance with you, doesn't mean that i'll sleep with you =) geeeez.

had a momentary setback last night. dunno what struck me, maybe the i-miss-school-ness? thanks for being there babes, both of ya are my rock (rocks just has too many bad innuendos, haha) but yeah. i've back to myself. altho i can't wait to come home to my girls =) you rock my world, i *heart* you!

annnnnd in happy happy news, sondha is halfway to her aim! *nudges esther* remember accountability? i'll be your secret if you'll be mine! *crows* i will rule the world! muahahaha.... *runs off laughing*

and lynn and bboj, have fun you two! *pokepoke* hehe... lucky peoples you be...

edit: blogger chops bits off cuz i write i <>

Girls want to be chased by guys who are not interested in them.
Guys want to chased by girls who are interested in them.

      i hate the weekends =)

no salsa, no school, nothing interesting to do. and then there's the feeling of anticipation, that i can't wait to go back to doing something, to being around people. and the problem with being prompt about your homework, is that during the weekends, you don't have any.... lolx =P i never thought in a million years, i'd be bored during the weekend.

on a happier note, i'm going to a salsa party tonight at wollonggabba (don't you just love australian names?) and it promises to be better then the dance experiences here so far *bouncebounce* i can't wait. i shall give a blow by blow account when i come back, and if it's good, one for the itenery of the snu trip, if it's to brisbane. the music there rocks tho, i've heard some of it. =) mmmmm.

i can't wait to start the rest of my life!

      Friday, March 10, 2006
disclaimer: (i'm writing alot of these lately) most children who have speech/hearing impediments have loving and devoted parents, who give them every care and concern that they can afford, in both time and effort. keyword: *most* this is just my own personal opinion.

i just wanted to jot this down, to hang onto this feeling, so that in the years ahead of me, if i ever question why i'm in my profession, i can always have this to remind myself:

i'm in this for the children. the children who are lost, with parents who are so bitter that they have hearing/speech impaired kids, they forget that their kids are just that, kids. they have futures, bright ones, and they deserve every love. these kids are the ones who have a unique view of the world, and we shouldn't erode that, to make them fit into ours. their world is a beautiful one, mature in it's understand of people, places, and their own situation. we think that they are happy because they cannot comprehend what's wrong with them. they know that the only way to be happy, is not not let it affect them. we shouldn't make them envy our world of hearing, with it's many inflexible cookie cutter moulds. we should learn to enjoy for them the joy of life and living, it is the profound secret that seperates us from them.

'kids don't think "what's wrong with me?", they think "what's wrong?" '

and i do this for the people who come, who touch me with their strenght and beauty, inside a world that we see as flawed, to them, it is the only world they know. and it's the only world they want. they don't wanna be a second class citizen of a world that we think they should be dragged into just because it is different. they want, and deserve, to have their world recognised, accepted and embraced. they deserve love. i want to love them.

'there is no silence in the absence of sound, only in the absence of understanding'

i am here to love the people, and to heal them, not of their disabilities, but of the hurt that they have suffered in the hand of those who do not understand. i'm here to serve.

i pray that i never forget that.

warning: very long, weird, slighty emo, and very incoherent posting

      Thursday, March 09, 2006
"My birthday began with the water
      -
Birds and the birds of the winged trees flying my name
Above the farms and the white horses
      And I rose
      In rainy autumn
And walked abroad in a shower of all my days"

'Poem in October' from Dylan Thomas' Collected
      Poems ( London: Phoenix, 2003)

today, i knew what it felt like to be old. and something inside me died.

i have (and after today, will probably continue to maintain, altho my heart ain't innit) always said that a female stops aging at 18, no matter how many years get in the way. especially in aussie, where people continue to ask me to prove that i'm not jailbait (omg, do i really plass for 16? *squeals*) but yeah.

i have seen councils that officially call me great-grand senior. i have seen people fight for their lives with diseases that used to be the domain of the elderly, and i have lost these same friends. i have seen friends lose the will to live, their trust in love, life, and all things beautiful.

i have seen friends change, more then i ever thought possible, some a beautiful metamorphasis into people of character and strength and wisdom (and thus i get to learn from the best *iloveyoutoohon*. and you mydear, smile for me, friends are always better then lovers, he's not worth it, anymore) and some into people i really do not know anymore, warped by dispair, frustration and grief.

and as i watch my friends celebrate 2 decades and 1, i recon that altho my day will come and go quietly, i hope i will stop and think about all that the years have brought. i hope to be able to say that i am proud of all that i am, altho not of all that i've done, and i hope that no matter where life takes me, i will be remembered fondly as one who loved life. insipid mortality? i guess so, while most of us feel like we are invincible and immortal, life has other plans for me. a $10 dollar sandwhich does not a feast beget, and altho life doesn't necessarily give us what we want, we do also get the option of enjoying what we get.

it's like the sunscreen song. it tells us (not in so many words) that life is precious, and we usually only realise it when it's too late. i often wonder what would the world be like if we actually enjoyed life. a radical world i supposed, but what if? why do we build expecations of ourselves and other, build prejudice and hate, but yet not simply each other? why can't will distil what we want from life, and drink of it?

dance like no one is watching. it's more powerful then you think. i practised shines last night in my bedroom, unaware that i was watched by my neighbour, who takes latin lessons with me. this morning, on the way to school, she remarked that the purity of focus on my face, was never evident in class (where i'm called shy?!?!) it makes me wonder what life would be like, uncoloured by perception of other people's opinions.

i think, and there for i am, but i love and therefore i will always be. the challenge is to love, but intellegently. live, but with a love of life. hope, in the quintessential things that make us who we are. dream, of reaching beyond our endurance, our powers and passions, to reach our defining root metaphor.

maybe dylan thomas had it right. but we shouldn't rage against the dying of the light. maybe we should rage to make the light our life.

Dylan Thomas’ “Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night”

Do not go gentle into that good night,
      Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

      introspection

it's been an interesting weekend, of filling my blog with useless quiz results and alot of introspection.

i've reached equilibirum i guess. i feel like i've walked through the valley of the shadow of death, and i've finally accepted that all is right in my world. not because life is easier, and thus all is right, but life's progressing as it should. i've grown up, sheltered by the wings of some of the most incredible people that anyone would be blessed to meet.

      Creativity1
Creativity- Your inner power is Creativity! Any of The Arts-music, dance, pure art, drama, creative writing-are your passion. You love the way you can control what happens to you and your life while you participate in any of The Arts, and you can push your emotions aside when you do so. You at times can feel very depressed and alone, and yet it only further fuels your love for your art. Life to you can often seem bitter and cruel, a world of darkness with only a few tiny flares of light, stretched out far in between one another. In a way youre confused with what you want in your life, and find it hard to trust people. Because of this people of the outside world see you as cold and uncaring, yet those who befriend you love you a lot, and know you are only very lonely and hurting. Boys are intrigued by your mysterious mask, and one day, one of them will reach passed your barriers and care for you the way you so desperately want to be cared for. Dont let the popular people get you down; you are a wonderful person, and without the creativity you bring the world, it would be a very boring place. Love yourself for who you are, for you are very special.
Boy/Girl who will sweep you off your feet:
A sweet, sensitive man/woman. The guy/girl who understands your need for being alone
sometimes. Yet also someone who would do anything to protect you for being hurt, even
if it means giving up their life.
      Your stone: Jade
      Your power: Dreaming/Imagination
      Your element: Dream
A quote that applies to you: Dare to dream, dare to fly, dare to be the ever chosen one to touch the sky.

What's your inner power? (Girls only sorry. Beautiful anime pictures, lengthy results)

Do you see the wedge because it is there
or is the wedge there because you see it?

disclaimer: i'm of a really philosophical bent today, so if you're looking for smiley happy things, read the next post ;)

sometimes, it's not the happiness, or the exquisite joy, or even the inner light of love that touches me...

it's the dignified sorrow, the quiet grief, and the delicate beauty of unrequited love that moves me to tears.

i have loved, and do love, and will always love. my work, my dance, and the people who's lives i hope to touch through therapy and life, are the people that i live for, the people whom i love, the people whom i dream for.

the people whom i live for, are the precious ones who have taught me love, be it from a movie, a dance, a kiss or a word or deed that speaks volumes of acceptance or unabiding love that they have, not just for me, but for all the people's whose lives they touch. that they love whom so ever their lives meet, on the dance floor, over a drink, with a touch, or with nothing at all, is something that will always light my way in life, because i have so much to learn from them.

innocent steps taught me that the most powerful dance happens when you love the person you dance with, be it for a moment, or a lifetime. our dance is life, and our time is now.
